El Palto is a coffee grown between 1300 and 1800 meters above sea level, in the dense, humid forests of the Selva Alta, in northern Peru.
This is a high-quality coffee, blending three varieties of Arabica beans (Caturra, Typica, Catimor). The cup is balanced, slightly acidic, with notes of milk chocolate on the finish.
El Palto is the result of the work of a producers' association, JUMARP. This association was founded in 2003 by 35 smallholder farmers to develop sustainable coffee production in harmony with the forest, and to take charge of coffee exports. Today, all 211 members produce certified organic and fair trade coffees.
